Headwaters of Healing Therapy is out-of-network with insurance companies, which means we do not bill insurance companies directly. Your therapy services may be eligible for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, medical spending, or health care savings accounts. If you plan to submit therapy expenses to your insurance provider for out-of-network benefits, you are responsible for doing so. A superbill will be provided upon request. Health insurance plans and benefits vary, so check with your insurance provider about reimbursement for your therapy services.

Paying for therapy privately gives you greater control and flexibility in your care. You can choose the approach that best fits your needs, without being limited by a diagnosis, treatment plan, or session restrictions imposed by insurance companies. It also ensures greater confidentiality, as there’s no need to share your records with an insurer. Additionally, you can avoid the labels and clinical diagnoses often required by insurance, which could affect other aspects of your life. This way, therapy remains focused on your healing, free from external constraints.

I use a variety of therapy methods to make sure we're addressing your unique needs, all with a trauma-informed focus. Here are some of the key approaches I use:
Polyvagal Theory: This helps us understand how our nervous system reacts to stress and trauma, and guides us toward feeling safer and more in control.
Attachment Theory: This approach looks at how early relationships shape the way we connect with others, especially in current relationships.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): This is a powerful method for processing past trauma and reducing its emotional hold on you.
Somatic Experiencing (SE): This approach helps release trauma that’s stored in the body, supporting healing on a physical and emotional level.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): This method helps you understand and heal the different parts of yourself, leading to greater self-compassion and integration.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): Great for couples, EFT works on creating stronger emotional bonds and deeper connections.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy: Based on years of research, this approach helps couples improve communication and emotional closeness.
Prepare and Enrich: This structured program helps couples strengthen their relationships and lay a solid foundation.
Discernment Counseling: Sometimes one partner is leaning out of the relationship, while the other wants to preserve it. If you’re unsure of whether couples counseling will be helpful, this approach helps you both gain clarity on the next steps.
I also offer spiritual direction for those wanting to bring their spiritual journey into therapy. My approach is flexible, so together we’ll find what works best for you, whether you're dealing with personal issues, relationship struggles, or seeking more meaning in your life.

If you’re a person of faith, you may be wondering whether it’s important to find a therapist who shares your religious background, or if that’s not necessary. You might also be navigating pain or discomfort related to your faith journey, and feel hesitant to bring it up at all.
All therapists are ethically bound to respect and honor your beliefs without judgment. However, some clients prefer to work with a therapist who shares their religious worldview.
I want you to know that you are welcome to bring your values and concerns about faith to therapy. While I don’t have a religious agenda for my clients, I am happy to support you if you’d like to explore faith, spirituality, or religion in our work together. I am a certified spiritual director trained at The Christos Center for Spiritual Formation. While my personal faith background is in the Christian tradition, I am open to holding space for clients from all faith traditions—or no faith tradition at all.
If you’ve experienced hurt from the church or oppressive spiritual systems, whether in a larger religious context or within your family of origin, I’m here to support you as you process and heal.

The length of therapy is a collaborative decision between you and me. Together, we will assess your goals and create a treatment plan designed to help you achieve them. In the beginning, meeting weekly can be beneficial to build momentum and make progress. As you move forward and make strides toward your goals, we can gradually adjust the frequency of your sessions until therapy concludes.
If meeting weekly is not feasible for you, please share your thoughts with me, and we can explore whether a less frequent schedule might still be effective for reaching your goals.
Some clients prefer to meet in longer sessions at less frequent intervals, such as once a month for 3 ½ hours instead of weekly 50-minute sessions. If this approach resonates with you, we can discuss how it might work for your needs.

A Good Faith Estimate is a document that provides an estimate of the expected charges for therapy services. Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive this estimate before your therapy begins. While it’s not possible for a therapist to predict the exact number of sessions you may need, this estimate outlines the potential costs based on the services that might be provided.
The total cost of your therapy will depend on factors such as the number of sessions you attend, your unique circumstances, and the type of services provided. The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to continue with therapy or to accept any specific treatment. Additionally, it does not include services that may be rendered but were not initially identified.
It’s important to understand that this estimate is not a recommendation for treatment, nor does it predict the number of sessions you will require. The actual number of sessions and the corresponding costs will be determined based on your needs and the course of your treatment, which you will discuss and agree upon with your therapist. You also have the right to disagree with any treatment recommendations and can choose to end therapy at any time.
The Good Faith Estimate reflects the expected costs of services based on current information and may not account for unforeseen expenses that may arise during treatment. If you prefer to receive your Good Faith Estimate in paper form, please let us know.
